Description Electric car
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the electrically powered sport utility vehicles, or SUVs or crossovers for short. It has been produced by the South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai since 2021. His preliminary design was presented for the first time in 2019 at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main. The new design of Hyundai's electric cars is reminiscent of the Hyundai Pony from 1974. Like the Kia EV6 or the Genesis GV60, the vehicle is based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This enables a greater range and quick charging times for the battery.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5, available in June 2021, was initially only limited to 3,000 copies in Europe. This model had a 72.6 kWh lithium-polymer battery and all-wheel drive. Now Hyundai announced a revised version for 2023 in April 2022. The new model will have a larger battery with 77.4 kWh so that ranges of over 500 km can be achieved. Another model, which should be able to drive at autonomy level 4, was presented at the IAA in Munich in September 2021. This will initially be available in the USA and will chauffeur passengers there fully automatically.
A rear-wheel drive Hyundai Ioniq 5 with 170 hp or 125 kW consumes around 16.7 kWh/100 km. This means the maximum range with a full battery is 384 km. Since this is a 100% electrically powered vehicle, CO₂ emissions are 0 g/km. The vehicle is therefore classified in the CO₂ efficiency class A+++. The electric motor is powered by a 58 kWh battery. In 2022, the Ioniq 5 received the World Car of the Year award.
The electric car is available in Cyber Grey, Digital Teal, Phantom Black, Galactic Grey, Atlas White, Atlas White Matt, Shooting Star Grey, Lucid Blue and Gravity Gold. The full LED headlights have a 256-pixel design. The rear seats can be moved forward or backward by up to 13.5 cm. The Ioniq 5 is also equipped with a panoramic glass roof, which makes the interior appear even larger. The seats are available in black, light gray or dark gray and dark green. Up to 32 PET bottles are cleaned for each Hyundai Ioniq 5 and then shredded into plastic chips. These are then melted down and processed into a high-quality woven upholstery fabric.
